Sex Crimes Accident Attorney talks about Car Accidents

This topic discussion by Aaron Crane, a sex crimes victim attorney and also experienced Phoenix car accident lawyer from Cantor Crane, shifts gears to discuss different aspects of a car accidents in Arizona.

Causes of an Accident

The National Safety Council reports over 10 million accidents every year, with the average driver being involved in a car accident once every 18 years. Although most of these accidents are minor and only include a few scraped bumpers, dented doors, or broken taillights in parking lots or at stop signs, the damage can still be avoided.

In order to reduce the amount of accidents and collisions every year, drivers need to be safe and educated on how these minor accidents occur. While there are a number of contributing factors to why collisions happen, here are the three main causes of minor and major car accidents:

1.  Speeding

It is easy to find yourself speeding without even realizing it, but by paying a little more attention, it can easily be avoided. Because it can be so difficult to control your car when it is going to fast, speeding is frequently the cause of many major and minor accidents.

Before pressing the gas petal down just a little bit farther, remember to ask yourself, if getting to your destination a few minutes early is really worth a potential accident or collision. Accidents caused by speeding are completely controllable, as long as we all decide to take our time.

2.  Fatigue

Driving while you are tired is one of the most dangerous things you can do, which is why it is the contributing factor in so many accidents and collisions. Not only do you face the risk of falling asleep behind the wheel, but you will have a more difficult time focusing and your reaction time will slow.

If you are feeling extremely tired and don’t feel comfortable getting behind the wheel, ask someone to drive for you or pick you up. While it might seem like a hassle, getting in an accident, even a minor one, would be an even bigger hassle.

3.  Focus

There are so many things trying to take your focus away from driving. The biggest of them being cell-phones; from texting, phone calls, social media, and music players, all take your hands off the wheel and eyes off the road. There is no message worth your life or the life of another person, so wait until you are at a stop light or parked before sending a text. If you must make a phone call, use a hands-free option that doesn’t require holding the phone to your ear.

Other car passengers can also be distractions. If you are in a car with children or friends, be sure they understand how important it is you stay focused on the road ahead.

Remember that the majority of car accidents and collisions are completely avoidable, as long as all drivers understand the frequent causes behind them. If you have any other questions regarding auto accidents or collisions, contact a car accident attorney Aaron Crane at Cantor Crane.
